Little GirlBoy–BoyGirl

A girl wrapped in cloth

Hello little girlboy,

How are you doing today?

Do you miss the way the bees sang and trees swayed?A boy wrapped in wool

Do you remember the years?Spent in joy and whimsy and freedom of tears

I remember Christmas like it was yesterday

I remember the feeling of light and love and hope

I remember the worms I found on the side of the pavement when it rained.I remember the crickets I’d put in cups to the outside world.I remember I would chase them like they were friends and we’d just play a game of tag together. Except I would always chase because I was a good runner.

I was so fast.

So fast you could beat Julio. And all the girls thought you were so cool.

And all the boys thought you were unreal.

And when you jumped high in the air that day you felt like nothing could describe or define or limit you.

You felt like you for the very first time in your life again.

You felt like a boygirl.

Hello, little boygirl,

How are you today?

Do you miss the rhythms and the notes that sway?

When you made them in your head or when you drowned and saved your figurines?

In the water of a bath that left you feeling clean.

A child wrapped in towels.

I know you wanted to be.

But the world was unkind.

And you were unfree.

So now I walk back to you and say

That you can get to be a boygirl, girlboy everyday.

I come to you and dawn you with flowers and rainbows and fire and doves, and the spirit of a dream I know you have loved. And I know you’re a fighter you always have been, for the love in the world, you have the strength to be in.

In your mind there's a heart and in your soul there's one too.

I love you girlboy and the most important thing I bring

Is a towel to adorn the light that you string.

In between vessels and in between realms.

It burns bright inside and around you, but no one has the right to the bare sight on its own.

For they will go blind from a solar eclipse, so boygirl tell me the love and light is yours.

Wear the towel with pride.

Your body is yours.

Your soul is yours.

Your light is yours.

I love you boygirl.I love you girlboy.

I love you, for no reason other than love.

You are love.

Hello, little one,

How will you love today?

For your spirit is yours to turn into solar power.

For even the sun wears a cloak of light blue.

And yet it loves us too. Because it can. Because it loves. Raising our crops like children to man.

For your spirit is yours to turn into moonlight.

For even the moon wears a cloak of dark hue.

And yet it loves us too. Because it can. Because it loves. Rising our sleep like ‘won’t’ to ‘can’.

So Love, I implore you to love for as long as you live, not because you are only built to give but because you’re alive. Because the woman who was let go next to you would love a high five. Because the old widow would love a compliment on the wool vest his wife gave. Because the lonely, idle toddler would love to play a game. Because the teenager you smile at did not know he’s pretty. Because blind, elder, cynic Cassandra would love to hear your Stevie Wonder ditty. Because the worm on the sidewalk misses its mud and your hand is open and hovered above. Because it's hot outside and a baby is crying and you don’t know how to be a monkey for it but at least you're trying. Because that mother you gave a tip to is barely getting by. Because that bird you helped back on the branch just wanted to fly.

Be that person who claps at the end of a movie. Be that person who claims all life has beauty. Be that person who hugs someone who was planning on death. Be that person who praises a C on their test. Be that person who tips just that much more. Be that person who jumps on the dance floor. Be that person who rolls down hills upon hills of grass. Be that person who just chortles harder when people don’t laugh. Be that person who lends your dog to the kid who lost theirs. Be that person who lifts up others without when you hand them your hair. Be that person of change that you can be, when you were born, and one, and two, and three.

Take the woven gunk web upon you all and recycle it to string and tie everyone together and see what they’ll bring.

So you can be Spiderman too if you like. You can fully catch the evil that steals someone’s bike. When you run up to them, instead mold them to wheel, tell them you understand, tell them that you feel.

And when the world shatters, bind it with gold.

Let it define you, let it be bold.

Lead the defenseless, lead the brave.

Lead the fully cherished and lead the depraved.

Lead the sick and lead the rich.Lead the rivers through their ditch.Lead the change that makes this place home

And please always remember,

That You aren’t alone.

Drown this place in what you are.

Remind those grounded you were once all stars.

Hug the universe tightly until it blows, and creates another big bang so big that it shows,

In forever places, in infinite growth.

In the divine, and right here.

Remind those grounded they have nothing to fear.

Remind them, sunmoon, of who they were before it all when they were born, and one, and two, and three.

When they felt messy yet all together clean. When they could just be,

When they were beautiful and raw and filled of dreams,

Back when they wished on comets, and weeds, those odd things like bugs

Breathing is odd, and oddity’s beauty,

It’s just like breathing;

Remind them they love.
